Independence Day Layouts

Whether you're an American or a citizen of another country, it's always good to remember important things about your country and culture. For those of us in the United States, Independence Day is a great time to reflect on why your country is important to you and how it has shaped you and your family. Below are some layout and album ideas to get you started.

Military - If you are a military family, take this holiday opportunity to create a layout about why serving your country is so important in your family. Why did you or your spouse decide to join the military? How has it changed your outlook on your country? Do you move around often? What kinds of things have you had the opportunity to experience because of your military lifestyle?

American Dream - The "American Dream" is a common term, describing the typical wants of Americans. What is your American dream? How does it compare to the standard American dream? How are you doing in your goal to reach your American Dream?

Independence - Independence is something the United States celebrates every July 4th. Do you have a personal "independence day?" Perhaps the day you got your driver's license, or the day you left for college, or when you got your first job.

Flag - Your country's flag, whether it's the stars and stripes of the United States, or the leaf in Canada's flag, has a history and a meaning. Photos of little ones holding a flag on Independence Day are the perfect opportunity to add a little history lesson to your layouts. Have you kids learned the Pledge of Allegiance? You might want to include it on a flag page, as well as how seeing the flag makes you feel.

Other ideas of what to include in a patriotic page:

  • Lyrics to songs such as the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, Yankee Doodle, Proud to be an American, etc.
  • A child's perspective on your country
  • Military memorabilia, dog tags, badges, pins
  • Your July4th holiday traditions
